A friend of mine from Club CK (Steffanie) shared how she makes corrugated alphas. It’s super easy and I love the dimension it gives to layouts. Just cut out some letters with a die cutting machine and then run them through your paper crimper. You can check out here blog here. She’s very talented!!

Valentine's Card Blog Hop

I was actually EARLY with my project! I've had these cards done for weeks!! I really enjoyed this challenge. Amanda from Love Joy Paper sent us all a few pieces (most the same for everyone) and we had to make a card out of at least half the items in the envelope. I have to say, I really love how mine turned out and I've been patiently waiting to share it with all of you!

Included in my envelope was a few small pieces of patterned paper, a handful of chipboard shapes, bling and the red and white twine.

I had been sewing for a few days and while my machine was out I used it on a couple cards. The bottom strip was first punched with an edge punch then folded in pleats and stitched over the top.

And since I was in a good mood or felt like I could win some brownie points...I created a second card with some of the leftover items. Super easy and super cute card! I used my Stampin Up heart punch (3 in 1) to punch out some small hearts. Adhered them to the page then just stitched over them to the bottom of the card! Add some leftover string and a bling and DONE!

Paper Flowers

I learned how to make these adorable paper flowers from Louise, my Stampin Up Demonstrator. She’s fabulous! Thanks Louise!!
Start by punching out some flowers from cardstock. I used 2 different sizes of scalloped punches from Stampin Up. Each in 2 different colors.

Then you need to get your flowers wet. You can either spray them with a spray bottle or you can use a wet hand towel and soak them up. I did not have a spray bottle so I used the towel. You want them wet enough that you can scrunch them all up without them ripping.

Then open them up and layer them. To add the brad in the center it’s easiest if you punch a small hole through all the layers, a Crop-a-Dial works really well for that. Then put your brad in and scrunch up all the petals how you would like them. When it dries it will keep the shape!

So I thought, well, I don’t have a squirt bottle, but I do have some Glimmer Mist and some Smooch spray. So I thought I’d try that as my means to get my flowers wet. It does work but it’s a little more messy since you have to handle the flowers while they are wet.

And then I thought, why not try another flower shape!!

The end result does work but it just doesn’t look quite as good as the scalloped flowers.

The Birdie Sling

Since I've been on this sewing kick the last week or so I decided to sew up another bag. This pattern is from Amy Butler, called the Birdie Sling. I really love it!!! Why so many bags you ask?? Why not? They were fun to sew and they'll be fun to use too!

I do have to say though, the pattern may not be for begining seamstresses. I say this becasue there were not very many pictures with the instructions. If you are the type of person that needs pictures I don't recommend this one for you. But, there were good typed instructions and if you can follow that then you'll be fine!

Pleated Bag Tutorial

Ok, here it is! It didn't take long! I will try and explain things the best I can but if you have questions please feel free to leave me a comment! There could be someone else who has the same question!

Dimensions: Bag body 21x14 (edited from original measurement)

Straps: 34x3 (or 17.5x3 cut on fold)

Pocket for inside 11x7

All seams are 1/2 seams

Cut out all your pieces

Cut 2 "bag" pieces from both the outside fabric and the inside fabric (lining)

Cut 2 straps out of the outside fabric

Cut 2 pocket pieces out of the outside fabric

Mark your fabric with a pen or chalk where your darts will be. I measured in 4 inches from each end and then again 3 inches from the first mark, towards the center. Be sure to mark all your pieces, outside fabric and lining fabric.

Now, if you have floppy fabric you have an option of using some interfacing to help your bag keep shape. I would suggest a lightweight fusible interfacing or your bag will be too wrinkly (too stiff form interfacing. I chose to use interfacing to help show the back and front of this fabric.

So, iron-on your interfacing to the wrong side of your outside bag pieces and your straps.

Ok, let's make some pleats!!

Find the center between your two marks on each side and put in a pin. Then you will fold the fabric towards the pin, making a "Z" with the fabric. Pin that pleat. Then repeat for the other half of that side. Each bag piece will have two pleated spots (with 2 pleats in each spot) Got all that?

This is what it should look like when you have pinned one section.

This is what the back side should look like.

Next, base stitch across the pleats to keep them in place.

Do the same thing on all 4 pieces. This check fabric is the lining for my bag, sewing the pleats.

After a pleat has been sewn

Ok, inside pocket. With right sides together sew around all 4 edges of the pocket but leave a hole in one side so you can turn it right side out.

Be sure to clip the corners so that you will have a nice clean corner when your turn it.

Then turn it right side out and iron it flat.

Pin the pocket to the right side of your lining with the open (not sewn) seam on the bottom edge.

Stich 3 sides leaving the top open, as your pocket. Stitch close to edge.

Straps

Fold your strap in half lengthwise and iron.

Then, on each side fold in about 1/2 inch and iron

Fold again on the original half fold and iron shut. Stitch close the edge.

Back to the bag

Pin bag with right sides together and stitch sides and bottom. Then clip corners like you did with the pocket.

Do the same for the lining of the bag, only leave a hole in the bottom seam for turning the bag right side out later.(that's the pocket you see in there :) )

Back to the straps

Pin your straps on the right side of your bag, over your pleats. Be sure and pin your straps in a manner that they "curve" when you have it on your shoulder. It's hard to explain but look at a bag you have at home and see how the straps are.

Now, outside bad and place it inside your lining. They should be right sides together. You'll have to forgive me, I had Carter climbing on me while I was sewing and didn't get a picture of this part, so I had to go back and whip up a small bag so I could get pictures.

Now line up the top of both bags, pin and stitch all the way around. Then you can turn your bag right side out through that whole you left in the bottom of the lining!

Sew up your little hole. You can either just top stitch it (like I did for time) or you can slip stitch it by hand. I usually slip stitch the hole shut.

Now tuck your lining into your bag.

(back to the big bag :) )

Pin the top edge of your bag all the way around, keeping the lining in and the straps out

Top stitch all the way around the top edge of the bag, about 1/8 inch from edge. There you have it!!! You're done!!!

Bag Patterns

I've had a few people ask me, here and other places, what patterns I used for these bags. The first one is Simplicity 2396. It's a current pattern that I just purchased not too long ago. The second bag is from the See&Sew cheap patterns. you usually find them on a rack at the fabric store (got mine at JoAnn's), sometimes they have them at Walmart. Pattern B5449. I didn't follow the pattern exactly on that one.

I do have this Amy Butler Birdie Sling pattern which is similar to the the Simplicity pattern, I plan on making that one next!

I also have this pattern! I'm thinking of making this bag to carry my laptop if I need to, instead of having to use my scrapbooking bag! You can check out TONS of fun stuff here. Lots of quilting things but some cute patterns too! I've never used any of their patterns but I'm anxious to make this one!

Fun Bags

I've had the urge to sew something the last couple of weeks. Thank goodness JoAnn's and Hobby Lobby were having a good sale on fabric! I'm good and stocked up for a while!! The only problem is that I want to make something out of all the fabric I bought!! Obviously I don't REALLY need that many purses or bags....well, maybe :)
This is the first one I made. It's actually my purse now, after cleaning out my current one and finding an HUGE amount of stuff hiding in all the pockets! I totally love this one!! I think it was a little out of my comfort zone, colors and patterns but I'm very happy with how it turned out!

The second I whipped up this afternoon! It was a very easy one. I used a pattern but I altered it a little to make it quick and easy. Both purses have pockets on the inside. I made this brown one with the intention of using it as a church bag, scriptures, RS manual, the all important GUM for the kids! It will be just right!! My girls even asked if I made a pocket for the gum, LOL. Yes, there's a pocket for gum.

I think this is the earliest we've gotten a tree, ever! I managed to get a few pictures before my kids piled back into the car. While we still don't have the tree up in our house yet, it's nice to know we have it! Monday, it WILL go up Monday!!

Ginger the Elf!

We now have a little visitor at our house. Santa sent an elf to keep an eye on our kids to see who is being good! Her name is Ginger. Isn't she cute? She IS cute but she's also quite the explorer! The boys have woken each day to find her in different place, doing different things. Hopefully everything she "gets into" will be clean!

Handmade Holiday Blog Hop

Hello!!! Welcome to our blog hop! You'll find lots and lots of great project. I'm the second stop on this fun hop so if you started here with me be sure to start at Amanda's blog and follow along. I had a very hard time deciding what to make for this blog hop so I ended up making a few things, all using scrappy supplies! It's always fun making anything with scrappy supplies.

The first thing I have to share with you is an ornament I made for some ladies at church. I copied and blew up part of the Christmas hymn Joy To The World. The ornament is only about 2x3 inches. I had some thicker material (kind of like chipboard) that I used, only it's white. I made a rosette flower to add that punch of color. Then I spayed the whole thing with a little glimmer mist.

My next project is actually the first thing I thought of making. Banners are so popular right now so I thought it would be fun to make a Christmas one. I found these chipboard triangles at Craft Warehouse with made for a great base. I love the Echo Park Christmas paper and used that for this project. Add a little glimmer mist, letters cut with my Cricut and add a few scallop edges and DONE! Quick and easy! A LITTLE TIP!!! When I sprayed my triangle with Glimmer mist of course it rippled where there was no adhesive holding it to the chipboard. I took my heat gun and dried it and all the ripples smoothed out! Very cool!

Lately it seems like wherever I go I'm finding things that make me think, "I should buy one of those so I can make a pattern from it." Cute boxes, bags, french fry boxes, etc. Well this darling little box was made all by trial and error! No pattern with this one! I'm pretty proud of myself! And I have a short tutorial for you!

3x3 boxes with a nice window to show off some kind of goody of your choice! Who wouldn't love some homemade cookies in this cute little package?

So, a 3x3 box and add in a 1/2 inch for tabs to put the box together.

So here's the pattern with some measurements for ya. It really is east to make! If you score your paper first then the scoring lines act as a guide where to stop cutting. Start with a 9X12 paper and score every 3 inches (folding lines) in both directions. Then you'll know where to cut making sure to account for you 1/2 inch for tabs. Have I lost you.

After you have the shape cut out then you an cut little notches out of the corners. It makes it much easier to fold the box together with the corners cut out. Use any shape punch you want to punch out your window.

For my "window" I used a small zip close bag bag I had purchased at Wal*Mart in a pack of 100 for cheap! They come in quite handy for many things! SO, another little tip, apply your adhesive to the BOX not the plastic. Then trim off the extra.

Then start folding and applying your adhesive with your tabs in the inside. The only problem with my box pattern being this size is that there's not enough paper to leave a tab at the top of the box to close it. BUT if you have paper with the extra tab printed with the manufacturer on it that part works great as the extra piece for another tab. (see picture below)

And here's a bunch of boxes finished. I love the double sided paper for these projects, it's fun to see the paper on the inside through the window.

I was definitely spoiled this year!! I have the best family and friends!!! My Birthday was a week ago and on that day Alex took Cierra and I out for our Birthday dinner. Mmmm, Olive Garden is always yummy!! While we were gone Harley babysat the boys and had them help make a birthday cake for me. It was a fun surprise!

I have an awesome friend who I've known for a few years but just met her in person for the first time this last spring. She was very sweet and sent me this necklace and earring set that she made! They are beautiful and I've worn them quite a few times already!! She's very talented!! You can check out her blog here. Thanks Amanda!!!

Alex informed me the Friday-ish before my birthday that my package was going to be late so I was anxiously waiting for the FedEx man last week!! Of course he just HAD to deliver it when Alex wasn't home so I had to wait until he got back so I could open it! A new lens for my camera. It's a 50mm f/1.4 Canon lens and I absolutely love it!!! Thanks Alex!! Love you, you're the best!!!

And if that wasn't enough....he remembered that I said someday i wanted a wide format printer. He had told me that another box was coming on Friday. I seriously had no idea what it could be and was completely surprised when this came! So now I need to figure out how to do a digi scrapbook page, LOL. This new toy will get lots of use that's for sure!!

You can call me crazy but yes, I love to shop on Black Friday!! I think it's so much fun and you really can find some awesome deals!! And the bonus is that I usually have Birthday money to spend at the same time! So thanks to both sets of parents for some Birthday money I found these babies on sale!! (still have $$ left over) I totally love them! This is the first time I've gone a little crazy with my shoe color but they are so fun!

Got sung to at my in laws house during Thanksgiving! Always a treat!

Stampin Up Cards

I've been a little bit of a slacker when it comes to my blog! So I have a few cards to share that I made at my Stampin Up group.
Such a simple pumpkin card using circle and oval punches. Ink the edges a little add google eyes and presto!!

This was also an easy card to make, for me anyway. LOL The tree stamp is actually stamped twice. Once on the front (green) and once behind on the yellow moon with white. Then you just have to line up the two images.

Moving on to Christmas. I have this stamp set and I believe it's called Delightful Decorations. I can't remember what set was used for the greenery on the side. Stamp the greenery first in different angles of light and dark stamping. Stamp the ornament on a red piece of paper using craft white ink with a little dab of some silver paint to add some extra sparkle. Using the coordinating punch, punch out the ornament shape on the white paper. Adhere the red ornament behind the punched out shape. Stamp the stars on the right and adhere that to the white. Easy peasy!!

Now, this card really was easy for me also but I'm not going to try and explain (in writing) how to make it. But I love the little peek-a-boo window when you open and close the card. Hopefully you can get the gist of it from the pictures!

Autumn Leaves

I was inspired by an upcoming blog hop and decided to use up some scrapbooking paper to make the vase full of leaves. I love the way it turned out. I found a leaf pattern on a Cricut Cartridge. Picked out some fall colors of paper and then used some Smooch spritz and some Glimmer Mist to add some color to the leaves. Then I cut the leaves out using the Cricut. After they were all cut, I inked the edges and used hot glue to adhere some brown floral wire to the leaves. I only burned my finger a dozen times or so :)

September Stampin Up!

That's right!! It's that time again, already! The third Thursday of this month happily snuck up on me!!
Here are the cards and one project I made last night. A big thanks to my friend and demonstrator Louise!! Awesome projects again!!

The book mark! Isn't that just the cutest little owl?!! I though this was such a fun way to to mark the pages of your favorite book. Right now, it's holding my place in my Smash Book. That little owl was nothing more than the Stampin Up Owl punch in different colors. Super easy!!

Using a hair band on the back will allow your ribbon to stretch, keeping a tight hold on your pages of your book. Pretty cool!! I'll be making more of these for sure!!

I love cards with these little sleeves. Such a fun way of holding it all together. We used the Delicate Doilies stamp set. The pink stamps in the corner are embossed using VersaMark ink and clear embossing powder.

I don't emboss much at home but I always love the look and am inspired to emboss more things after I leave from Stampin Up night! The flower on the is card is from the Awash with Flowers stamp set. We used the craft white ink and white embossing powder for the outline of the flower. I inked my edges with Early Espresso ink to tie it all together. The white embossing powder on the brown flower was kind of mistake but I kink of like the look of the bits of white over the brown. Even accidents can turn out pretty!

Quick and Easy Cards

I had a few Birthdays that I needed cards for so I whipped up these quick cards.
All these cars were made with Stampin Up stamps and ink. This first one is a new stamp set from the SU catalog that just came out in July. I love this set but sure wish there was a punch to go with the balloons!!

These banners were also SU stamps but there IS a punch that matches and I LOVE it. Banners are all the rage right now and I think they are so cute! The blue and purple triangles have the center popped up for some added dimension.

Again, SU stamps. I also decided to get out my little air puffer thing to use with SU pens. I can't remember the "official" name of the tool. Love the added look of the splatter on this card.

A GREAT Weekend

I had an awesome weekend! A group of ladies from the Club Creating Keepsakes message board decided to meet up and spend a weekend scrapbooking. I had met one of them (Amanda) before and I was very excited to meet the others! We met up at a hotel and got a room to scrapbook in. We all had so much fun!!!! This is an amazing group of talented, kind, funny women and we had a BLAST!!!

Starving Children

I really do feed my kids, honest!!! Some days they seem to do nothing but eat, LOL. What a bunch of goofy boys!! They can really suck it in. Even though Mason thinks he starving, here's the proof that my kids can clean a dish! The rolls in this pan are still warm!!! More than half are already gone! The rest of these probably won't see tomorrow!

Love this fabric

I wanted to make a scrapbooking bag for a friend of mine so I went to JoAnn's in search of some cute fabric. When I found this fabric I immediately fell in love with it!! Here's the finished scrap tote.

When I get in the mood to sew I start thinking of all the different things to sew. Usually it's, WHAT'S NEXT?? :) Well, how about this. A little cover for my large camera. When I'm using it and carrying it around I'm always worried about bumping it on things and I don't' want to have to carry the big camera case we have for it. So after a little trial and error I came up with this. Sorry Alex! I'll have to make a camo one for him when he's in control of the camera so it's not all girly :) And I have to add that I love the little yellow button! Adds just a touch of BOMBERS to my camera bag :)

July Stampin Up Projects

We celebrated Christmas in July! I actually love making things for the holidays BEFORE the craziness of the season kicks in. It's fun to think about Christmas projects early! For the first time I used bleach on my card! Yep, bleach! It was pretty cool and I just might have to use that technique again!! First stamp your image (the red ornament). Then pour a tiny bit of bleach on a paper towel in a plastic container, then spritz with a little glitter spray. There's all kinds out on the market these days. Then, using a small stamp (a flower in this case) dab in the bleach and a little in the glitter and stamp over your red stamp. It will bleach out that area. Very cool!! Thanks to my friend and demonstrator Louise!!! She always has fun projects!!!! Plus it's just fun to hang out for an evening!!

The second card had me a little worried, LOL. We inked up a stamp using 3 different colors. Light to dark. The parent in me just kept seeing my kids mixing ink colors from one pad to the next., I'll admit, it drove me a little nuts, LOL. Anyway, ink up your stamp in the light color. Then to the next darker color ink up around the edges of your stamp. With the darkest color ink the VERY edges of the stamp. Then stamp on your card. Cool, right?

Stampin Up Catalog

July means that I get a new Stampin Up catalog!!! It's so much fun to flip through a new catalog and check out all the fun things. Not only the new product but all the new creations, cards, crafts and scrapbook pages. It really is an idea book as well as a catalog!!! One of the first things I do with my new catalog is label all the sections so i can find what I want quicker and easier! And speaking of my label maker, it's wonderful for this use also!!! I have a handy dandy punch for punching page tabs and I just printed my labels on the clear adhesive. Label Maker

I LOVE LOVE this little tool or machine or whatever you want to call it. I could spend ALL day labeling things in my craft room and around my house, it's pretty cool! I love the fact that I acn change the size of the font, do upper or lower case as well as number and dozens of little pictures! I can print on clear labels as well as white (and other colors I haven't played with yet). This is just a small sampling of the labeling going on around here.

Swimming Lessons

Summer is in full force and the kids LOVE going to the pool. Mason and Spencer have been going to swimming lessons for the past few weeks. They are doing really good! They are fish, just like I was! :) About a week ago I was dropping off the boys for swimming lessons and Carter was having a melt down in the back seat because HE wanted to take swimming lessons too! It took everything I had to convince him that he had to wait just a few short days before he could go also. Carter has now been attending swim lessons for a week now and he loves it!! I can't say that for the first day though. He cried and cried. The funny thing was that he did everything his teacher asked him to do but in between his turn he would get out and cry while he stood in front of me. It was quite amusing!!

I've had so much fun participating in these blog hops! It's so fun to see eveyone's related projects AND it makes me get something done!! You should have come from Heather's Blog, if you didn't you'll want to hop back to Amanda's blog and start at the begining.

We were given a sketch and asked to create a LO. I had LOTS of fun with this one!! I love the look of layouts with clustered (and lots of them) embellishments but I always have a hard time pulling it off to where I'm happy. Because of the theme I was going with on this LO I forced myself to go a little further, add more stuff! It was a BLAST!!! I pulled out things I had not ever used or that I forgot I had, LOL

Here is what the LO looked like at first when I THOUGHT I was done.

A New Puppy

Many clothing have been sent straight to the washer and many children (many times) have been sent straight to the tub because of this black (brown) hole in the back yard. Try telling kids that you can't really dig to China and watch them try! They'll at least dig a hole large enough to sit in! Watch out for summer time!! The days get hot, the hose comes out and the hole has been known to magically become filled with water. I wonder how THAT happens?? Ahhh, good times!!!

Teacher Appreciation

A couple weeks ago was Teacher Appreciation week so I decided to make a few goodie bags for some awesome teachers! These are super cute and super easy to make! You can find mini lunch sacks at most craft stores and in all sizes too! I just cut the bad down an inch or so and add paper to the front and back of the bags to cover them. Then punch a handle hole in the top and tie with a ribbon!!

Stampin Up in April

I know, I'm a little late getting these posted. I've been busy getting ready for our yard sale. Now that it's done it feels great! Back to Stampin Up! I love this butterfly card!! Here's a nice use for your pop cans! Cut off the top and bottom of your can a (after you wash it really good) and flatten it out. You can then use your Big Shot to emboss and die cut the can! It's awesome!!! I might have to save more cans. I'm sure I can find all kinds of cute things to cut out!

I love the sparkles on the flower card! So pretty. I can't be positive but I think we used the Diamond accents on there after we we inked the flowers. The flowers are actually two half flowers put together. Used a cosmetic sponge to ink the flowers so they were soft and blended. I love this look.

As always, a HUGE thanks to Louise for her planning every month. Great projects!! And congrats to Louise, her daughter just had a baby girl this past weekend so she's a new Nana!!!

Easter at Grandma's

Every year we gather at my Mom's house for a wonderful Easter dinner followed by an egg hunt for all the grandkids. My Mom usually leaves her grass long for a while so we can hide eggs a little easier. Every year we have to get creative when it comes to hiding eggs. There's just not too many hiding places in her back yard but the kids have a great time anyway! All the grandkids were there except Malorie, and we missed her!! I had to post a bunch of the group picture because it just cracks me up! Have you ever tried to get a good picture of 17 kids (15 under 11 yrs old)?? Not in the group photo are Malorie and Ila.

March Madness and a Birthday

It's March Madness at our house...but not because of basketball! March is always a busy month for us. Mason and Spencer both have birthday's in March, I'm getting ready for Camp Wooten and spring sports are starting.

Mason was offered to take a little camping trip with his Dad for his birthday which he was TOTALLY excited about. Since it's such a busy month the camping trip has been rescheculed for April. We still wanted Mason to have a little party so we had a small party at "big McDonald's" as the kids call it. It was perfect and they had a blast!

Stampin Up!

I decided that I need to start posting the cards I make at my Stampin Up group. We meet once a month and our Stampin Up demonstrator (Louise) shows us how to make 3 cards or project (usually cards). We get to pick 2 and make them. It's so fun to learn new things. I like to think I have seen it all but just when I begin to think that Louise shows us something cool that I hadn't thought of! Thanks Louise!! You're awesome!

Here are the cards I made last week.

This first card was cool to make. We inked up an embossing folder and ran it thought the Big Shot (with paper) to get this very pretty flower. I'm going to use that technique more often! Also works with texture plates!

Cutest Little Frog

Valentine's Boxes

I thought I would give some instructions on the little boxes I made. It took me a couple tries to get the sizes all correct. I wanted the lid a TINY bit larger than the bottom, and I wanted the bottom box to show.

So first, the dimensions. The lid is 4 x 4. Score 3/4 inch on all four sides. The bottom is 4 3/8 x 4 3/8 and score 1 inch on all four sides.

After you score all the sides cut 2 slits on two sides along your score line and stop when you get to the inner square. I cut the two in the middle.

Then fold the sides up. Glue the sides together. I glued the small pieces on the inside of the box. Your box should look like this so far.

You'll repeat the same steps for the top and the bottom of the box.

The design on the top was from Stampin Up! It's the "Love you much" set. I actually stamped the image 3 times. Twice on white and once on pink. I used the scallop and circle punch from SU and hand cut the heart.

I'll start with a scrapbook page layout. I'm guilty of not doing many "Valentine's" pages. I do many pages about my kids and they usually contain things I love about them. So this was a bit of a challenge for me to actaully do a lovey dovey page. :)

When I think of Valentine's Day usually the first thing that comes to mind is making Valentine's gifts or goodies for my kids to hand out to their friends or kids in their class. So naturally I had to make a few fun things.

These little boxes are pretty easy to make and you can fill them with all kinds of yummy treats!

I found a kit for these little french fry boxes at a Creating Keepsake Convention. Check out Scribble Scrabble here. I made my own pattern so I can make bunches more whenever I want. I thought they were so cute!! There's so many things you can do with them. I might wrap a couple cookies in parchment paper and place them inside these adorable little boxes! Great teacher gifts too!

I LOVE making these super easy little bags! Teachers love them. I'm sure anyone would love getting this cute bag filled with goodies!

Cierra. She played on the Cheif Jo 7th grade A team. Funny thing, her coach was my high school jv coach. She really had a good time and she's a good player.

Harley. I love this picture because it shows how high Harley jumped! She's the middle player in white. Even though she missed the block, I still love it! She played on the Freshman team for Richland High. She was tired every day when she came home but she had fun! Harley also had one of my coaches! She had my varsity coach. That's Richland for ya!

Carter spent many evenings sitting on the bleachers! The boys were very excited when they were FINALLY at the LAST game of volleyball season! They got tired of being dragged to the girls games.

I thought I might get a LITTLE sporting break but it looks like that will be a short break. Cierra is doing dance team with Cheif Jo. Mason wants to play city basketball and Harley will tryout for Club Volleyball. On to the next thing!

Football has come to and end for Mason. He had so much fun! This was his first year playing and thanks to a couple of great coaches (thanks Brad and Ryan!!!) and some other parents helping out, Mason had a wonderful experience!!! He learned so much this year! At the end of the season party he recieved a small trophy and he's been carrying that thing around the house since he got it! I had to convince him that he didn't need to take it to church. I'll have to search my other cameras to see if I have more pictures.

I had to thow in this picture of Carter also. I just love it! Cracks me up every time I see it!

Finally on the boat!

We finally made it out to the river. The first time we went out it was quite a journey. We loaded up the cooler, the bag of towels and all the kids. Drive down to the marina and get the boat in the water. While I drive the truck and trailer up to park it, Alex stays in the boat with all the kids. When I get back to the boat Alex informs me that the boat won't start. He even had it running less than a week ago when he got it all ready for the season. He figured out the battery must be dead, drained from the stereo. So I walk back up and unhook the trailer, drive the truck head first down the ramp to the boat so we can jump start the boat. It doesn't work. The battery was just totally fried! So then I drive the truck back up, get the trailer and we load the boat back up and all the kids and go home. The kids were disappointed to say the least! I was pleasantly surprised my a few people down at the dock who offered their help to us. A week later, we buy a new battery, load everything and everyone up again and we actually get to go for a boat ride. That day the wind picked up little so there wasn't any tubing but we ate lunch on the boat and the kids had a great time! FINALLY!

We were at the pool last night, Harley was swinging a large squirt gun to get all the water out when Spencer walked right behind her and got nailed in the face. Harley felt bad but it wasn't her fault. I'm sure it will turn into a very nice bruise in the next couple days. Poory guy, he cried for a long time! It sounded like the water gun had just hit the ground! OUCH!!

These are the Birthday goodie bags I made for Mason's class at school.

Mason finally got his wish of having a "friend party" for his Birthday. This is such a busy time of year for me that it's been hard to schedule one. This year I made it happen! Sadly, only 3 friends showed up but I think Mason had a great time anyway.

We played some Transformer games and I made very simple transformer cupcakes. One game that they enjoyed was locating the Allspark. We hid it in the backyard and they had to search for it, when they found it they got a turn to hide it.

Another game they all enjoyed was finding the gumball hidden in a plate of whip cream. It was pretty funny. Even after they found their gumball they wanted more whip cream on their plates.

It's great to be 8!

It's hard to believe that our oldest son is 8 years old!!

We let Mason choose where he wanted to go out to eat for his Birthday dinner and he chose Red Lobster. Check out that plate of food! Mason loves all things meat.

He was baptized on Sunday March 7th along with another girl from our ward. We had over 110 people show up for their baptism!!! We started out in the RS room and we were overflowing into the hallway so we moved to the chapel. A huge thank you goes out to the stake choir for giving up the chapel!

On Wednesday Mason went to his first Cub Scout activity. He was very excited!! His birthday was just intime to be able to attend his first Pinewood Derby coming up in a couple weeks. I then realized that I had 18 years of scouting ahead of me with two other boys to follow. Let the sewing on of patches begin!

Scrapping projects

I've been busy trying to catch up on my scrapbooking lately. The first weekend in February I took a trip to Portland for the Creating Keepsakes Convention (CKC). This was my 4th year going! It's so fun to have a weekend where scrapbooking is all I have to do. If you ever get a chance to go you really should, loads of fun!!! It helps that I have a great husband that lets me go. Not only does he let me go but he keeps all the kids at home! He's awesome, LOVE YOU ALEX!!

Anyway, these are some projects I've done lately. Some at CKC and some at home.

Little Party

We're only a few weeks late but we finally had a little party for Carter. We kept having a round of sickness in our house and just couldn't make it happen to have everyone over. We ended up just having our own little party for him. It's always fun to watch a one year old have at it with their cake! I just snapped away with the camera. Thank goodness for digital. I was surprised to see that I had taken 84 pictures!!!

A Little Of Everything

*We had a fun Halloween as usual. I was a crazy woman sewing madly for weeks right up until the end. I made costumes for Harley, Cierra, Carter, Alex and myself. I don't have a picture of Alex and I.

*Cierra turned 12!!! She's very excited to be in YM and going to mutual. I can't believe how old my kids are getting. Where did the time go!

*Christmas!!! I decided to take on yet another project and made new stockings for us. It really bothered me that our old ones didn't match!

*Carter turned 1. We had a round of sick kids the week after Christmas and we STILL have not had any kind of Birthday party for Carter. So sad!! Good thing he's only one and he doesn't know any better. I even had a day planned this week to party but then we all got sick again.

Carter just amazes us every day. We get a kick out of his comprehension level. He doesn't forget anything! You can take something away from him and 10 minutes later he's still looking for it. He is getting into everything! Everything needs a lock or a latch on it to keep him out of it. I caught him the other day sticking his fingers behind a cupboard door trying to undo the child latch. What a stinker!

Just a few pictures to show ya what we've been up to. I have Halloween pictures but they are still on the camera. That camera is on a hunting trip in Montana :)
From top to bottom...Camping at Charbonneau with all the Holsten Family. We all silk screened matching shirts. Some people at camp thought we were selling shirts when we had them all hanging out to dry. It was pretty funny!
Took a trip to Silverwood. We had good weather and the kids had a great time. We decided that next time it would be a two day trip, rides one day, water park the next.
Spencer got his fist bus ride to the pumpkin patch with his kindergarten class. They DID NOT have good weather. It rained the entire time, we were all soaked when we left. What good memories!
Harley played volleyball and had a great time. She learned to serve overhand and get it over the net!! We are hoping to hit a bunch of camps until fall next year.
Alex and the two older boys took a little camping trip while the girls, Carter and I went to Seattle for a scapbooking convention. (Those pictures are hunting in Montana also). Mason and Spencer were so excited when they got to go hunting with Alex, that's a grouse.

Have you ever tried to get 17 kids under 13 years old (the majority under 9) to sit still and face forward long enough to capture a decent picture? We had about 5 cameras going and we only got one or two good ones out of 30-40 pictures. It's actually funny to look through all the other pictures. It's so funny to see the personalities off all the kids showing through the photos. We learned that next time we need to take the picture of all the grandkids with Grandma and Grandpa FIRST. We didn't manage to get a good picture of that :(

First Day of School!

Harley, Cierra and Mason all started school yesterday. They were all very excited! I was glad to have kids back in school. I'm usually not real eager for them to start because I like being able to sleep in a bit during the summer. This year I was ready!! Spencer had his kindergarten assessment yesterday and he will have his first day of kindergarten tomorrow. He can hardly wait!! I'll be sure to get a picture of him with his backpack. He's so happy to FINALLY have his own backpack! If I could have followed the girls into middle school to take pictures I would have. Ha ha ha :)

Here's a quick look at where our summer has gone.

*Carter learned how to crawl! Yikes, watch out!!

*We love to go camping and we bought a trailer, woooo hooo!!!

*Cierra competed in "belly bumpers" at her 5th grade track and field day.

*Camping and boating at Charbonneau for Memorial weekend. What a blast, fun with lots of cousins! Carter had a nice nap in a camp chair by the river.

*I now am a parent of teenager. Harley turned 13!

*Spencer helping Alex do some work in the yard. Building forms for concrete in the driveway and setting fence posts.

*A long drive and a short stay at Priest Lake in Idaho. It sure was pretty!! We will surely be going back!

*Ward camp out at a nearby church camp. The kids had a great time catching crawdads in the little river.

*Check out that nice muddy rig after Alex took the kids fishing! He had to take it through the car wash at least 4 times!

*Lots of swimming at the pool. Carter fits right in with the rest of the kids, he loves the pool. Didn't Cierra do a good job, she took that picture of Carter, way to go C!!

The Mowhawk!

Last night Alex and I attended his 20 year high school reunion. Our kids spent a couple hours at my Mom's house. My brother came down from Cheney and my sister was also over with her kids hanging out. Towards the end of the evening I get a text from my sister that says, "while the parents are away..." followed by a picture of Spencer with a mohawk. Little did I know that there was actually hair cutting involved. When we got back to my Mom's house we were told the full story. Allie wanted to give Spencer a mowkawk and he was a bit hesitant. She first just gelled up the top and then convinced him to cut the sides short! I think it's cute and it's fine since we usually keep Spencer's hair short anyway we can just buzz it all down later. Before church we got some good pictures, yes, he went to church this way :)

I feel like I'm usually pretty good at fending off sales people coming to my door. Sometimes it is missionaries from other churches, I've had vacuums, books...all kinds of things. Well, today I was thoroughly annoyed!!! I had just mowed the lawn, I got Carter to sleep, the boys were playing nicely and I was getting ready to get in the shower. I made it to the bathroom and was just about to get in when I heard Spencer yelling. I figured the boys were fighting so I threw on my bath robe and went out to see what the problem was. Spencer told me there was someone waiting to talk to me...at the door!! So I go down and while hiding behind the door I find a young woman on my front porch. She greeted me with a happy, "Hello, Sister Pospical?" She was a college student and she wanted to sell me some cartoon scripture videos. She noticed that I was in my bath robe and apologized if she caught me at a bad time. I told her it was and that I was just about to get in the shower. Well, this young woman was not going to take no for an answer!!! She asked if I had a minute so she could show me what she had. I again told her it was a bad time, shower, baby sleeping, I need to be somewhere in a little while. She wanted to come back at a time when Alex would be here, well, he's out of town. Weekend is no good, we have a wedding. The following weekend? Camping. She kept saying how she gets credit for just showing it to me. Don't forget I'm still standing behind my door in my bath robe!!! She had to nerve to ask me again if I just had a minute!! HELLO?!!! Finally I just told her that in all honesty I wasn't going to buy any videos anyway. I told her if they are still the price the last time someone tried to sell them to me I have a hard time paying that for a video. Generally people are pretty good with the whole honesty thing but not this gal. "Even if I leave you a free video?" You can give me a free video if you want but I still don't have time!!!
Okay, so again, honestly maybe my boys would love the videos. I wouldn't mind having some but now I'm totally annoyed with this gal and it's out the window. There really wasn't an apology for taking my time or anything. It was like she was offended that because I was a member of the church I'm obligated to buy what this college student is trying to sell me. It doesn't work that way, sorry.

A Little-Big Carter-Update

He's not so little anymore. He had his 4 month appointment last week and he's already 19 pounds. Can you believe it? It's amazing how fast babies grow. They learn new things incredibly fast. He's grabbing things all the time, including fit fulls of hair. It's fun to hold something in front of him and watch him track it with his eyes before he grabs it. It looks like it takes so much concentration. He smiles all the time, especially for his brothers and sisters. He watches them cross the room and sometimes he'll get mad if they don't stop to talk to him. Shortly after he turned 3 months he started teething. Crazy, I know!!! By the time he hit 4 months he was showing off not one but TWO teeth on the bottom. It's so cute to see his little teeth when he smiles. Not so cute when I get a finger in there!! Don't try that at home! He's very close to rolling over, he just has that last little bit of shoulder to get over, then watch out! I'm sure he'll be rolling all over the living room.

A Mother's Day Gift

Today was a special day at preschool. First a little history. When parents come to pick up their children at preschool the teacher usually brings the kids out a few at a time. The kids are in one half of the room reading stories and the parents wait in the other side. The teacher pops her head out to see which parents are there and then goes back into the room with the kids and then sends out a few of them. Generally, the kids go quickly and excitedly to their parent. Now, to today. All of us parents are waiting for story time to end and for our kids to come out. What a special surprise to see the kids coming out one at a time, walking politely I might add. I think Spencer was one of the first out the door and he walked up to me and said, "Happy Mother's Day" and handed me this...

Now, you have to understand that we've been with the same preschool since Harley was there. So I've seen a few of theses before and it wasn't really a surprise. It was just so sweet to see all the kids coming out and wishing their Mother's a happy day! And if you know Spencer.....he can be such a sweetie! He gives his preschool teacher hugs all the time. She LOVES them, she calls them "sugar."

The color is getting really good now :) Cierra does a nice flinch whenever I show her my leg. The color is starting to run down my shin now. It doesn't hurt to move my knee but it still hurts if pressure is put on it, kneeling, kids sitting on it.
